
Luis Barcelo Jover (1896-15 March 1939) was a Colonel of Republican Spain during the Spanish Civil War.
Biography[]
Luis Barcelo Jover was born in 1896 in Madrid, Spain, and by 1936 he was a Major in the Spanish Army. In July, he set up summary courts to try the conspirators in the failed coup against the Second Spanish Republic by the Falange and other far-right groups, joining the Communist Party of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. he fought in the Siege of the Alcazar and the Segovia Offensive, and Barcelo rejected the authority of Segismundo Casado's government after it seized power in a coup. Barcelo helped in taking power from Casado in Madrid, but Cipriano Mera's anarchist troops entered the city and had Barcelo executed for treason.
