
Luis A. Quintana (29 January 1960-) was Mayor of Newark (D) from 4 November 2013 to 1 July 2014, succeeding Cory Booker and preceding Ras Baraka.
Biography[]
Luis A. Quintana was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico on 29 January 1960, and his family moved to Newark, New Jersey in the United States at the age of eight. He received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Seton Hall University, and he became a member of the Newark Municipal Council, and he unsuccessfully ran in the 2003 and 2007 elections to the General Assembly. In 2013, he replaced Cory Booker as Mayor of Newark after Booker became a member of the US Senate, and he served out the rest of Booker's term. He left office in July 2014, having chosen not to run for re-election. He was succeeded as Mayor of Newark by Ras Baraka.
