Lucy O'Hara

Lucy O'Hara was an Irish-American woman and the wife of San Francisco Police Department sergeant Bill O'Hara. She married O'Hara in 1863, and she gave birth to Molly, Davey, Ethan, Michael, and Rose, caring for them in a San Franciscco house while O'Hara walked the beat in Chinatown and attempted to deal with a gambling addiction. She took a liking to O'Hara's coworker Richard Lee, admitting her surprise that his youth and Southern charm had yet to win him a wife. Lucy and Bill later came to see Lee as family, but her relationship with Bill deteriorated as she grew suspicious of how he was able to start buying her jewelry and steaks; she later discovered that her husband had become a hired gun for the Fung Hai Tong, which later attempted to murder the O'Hara family at their home. She briefly separated from her husband before coming home after the 1878 Chinatown race riot to check in on her husband; however, she did not intend to come back immediately.
