Lucas Díaz Escalante (born 1788) was a Chilean merchant who lived in Santiago during the early 19th century. In 1814, he was kidnapped from Santiago by a group of bandits let into the city by the captain of the guard, and his brother Adelmar Díaz Escalante responded by recruiting Javier Pando to help rescue his brother. Pando interrogated the robber Joaquin Jurado Mesa and discovered that Lucas was being held at a bandit camp east of Quillote, and he and his band of Biobio veterans rushed to the bandit camp, killed the criminals, and rescued Lucas. Lucas then reunited with his brother, who then paid Pando for his help.
