Ludwig von Baden-Baden

Louis of Baden-Baden (8 April 1655-4 January 1707) was the Margrave of Baden and a general of the Holy Roman Empire and was chief commander of the Imperial army. 

Biography[]

Louis of Baden-Baden was the son of Ferdinand Maximilian of Baden-Baden and Louise of Savoy. He served under Raimondo Montecuccoli, fighting the French in the War of Reunions and the Ottomans in the Great Turkish War. During the 1690s he fought the Ottomans in the Balkans, and in the 1700s he fought France again during the War of the Spanish Succession. He drew Bavarian troops away from the Battle of Blenheim, allowing Britain to score a victory, and he died in 1707, two years.
