Louis de Cadillac

Louis de Cadillac (1593-1628) was a French explorer who was active in New France during the 17th century. In 1628, he founded the colony of La Nouvelle-Ernée at the tip of the Cape Ann peninsula in present-day Massachusetts, and his colonists clashed with the English settlers of New Tealby amid the Anglo-French War. After a French raid on New Tealby killed two English settlers, the English assaulted and destroyed La Nouvelle-Ernée, and Cadillac was killed.
