Louis Sedgwick (born in 1910) was an Australian Royal Air Force officer and prisoner at Stalag Luft III.

Biography[]

Sedgwick was born in Melbourne, Australia. He joined the Australian Army in 1930. In 1940, he was sent to Great Britain to fight against Germany. Sedgwick was captured soon after the Battle of Dunkirk. He was sent to Stalag Luft III. He was in charge of the camp's manufacturing. Sedgwick escaped succesfully to France when he met the French Resistance and they helped him to cross the border with Spain. He was one of the three prisioners who managed to escape from Germany.
