Louis II de Beaumont (1430-1508) was the Count of Lerin, Marquis of Huesca, and Constable of Navarre. In 1507, he led a rebellion against King John III of Navarre that resulted in the Siege of Viana, Cesare Borgia's last battle.
Biography[]
Louis was the eldest son of Louis I de Beaumont, and he became the Count of Lerin in southern Navarre upon his father's death. Beaumont was a strong supporter of King Ferdinand II of Aragon in his dynastic struggles with Philip I of Castile, and his alliance with King Ferdinand led to rivalry with King John III of Navarre. In December 1506, a 10,000-strong Navarrese army under Cesare Borgia was sent to besiege Viana, and Borgia was killed in the ensuing battle. Louis was charged with treason, but he managed to escape to Aragon, where he died in 1508.
