
Louis Frey Jr. (11 January 1934-14 October 2019) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-FL 5) from 3 January 1969 to 3 January 1973 (succeeding Edward Gurney and preceding Bill Gunter) and from FL-9 from 3 January 1973 to 3 January 1979 (succeeding Paul Rogers and preceding Bill Nelson).
Biography[]
Louis Frey Jr. was born in Rutherford, New Jersey in 1934, and he served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 and in the Naval Reserve from 1958 to 1978. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 1961, and he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1968, the fourth Florida Republican to be elected to the House during the 20th century. Frey voted against inflation and curbed excess government spending, coming to be known as a guardian of small business. He served in the House until 1979, when he launched a failed gubernatorial and US Senate campaign; he also launched a failed 1986 gubernatorial bid. He died in Winter Park in 2019 at the age of 85.
