Biography[]
Louis Ferrante was born in Queens, New York City in 1969. He became a gang leader during his teenage years, stealing cars and hijacking delivery trucks across New York City before coming to head a crew of older armed robbers within the Gambino crime family. The FBI later foiled a planned armored car robbery in California, but he masterminded some of the largest heists in American history. He was eventually indicted by the FBI, the US Secret Service, and the Nassau County Organized Crime Task Force. While he initially faced life in prison and unsuccessfully sought William Kunstler's help with commuting his sentence, he became an avid reader while in prison and penned a historical novel set in the Antebellum South. He went on to appeal his conviction and be released in 2003 after serving 8.5 years in prison, and he converted to Judaism and wrote a memoir. He went on to write bestselling novels about business, neuroscience, philosophy, and the history of the Mafia, publishing The Borgata Trilogy in 2023 at the request of publishing tycoon George Weidenfeld, Baron Weidenfeld. He went on to become an award-nominated television host with the OWN Network and the Discovery Channel.
