Lorenz Beheim (1457-11 April 1521) was a German humanist, astrologer, physician, and alchemist during the Renaissance era.
Biography[]
Lorenz Beheim was born in Nuremberg, Holy Roman Empire in 1457, and he studied theology at Ingolstadt from 1473 to 1476. In 1490, he entered Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia's service as his steward, and he became Chief Gunner of the Papal States after Borgia's 1492 election as Pope. Beheim built fortresses and papal guns and even participated in some sieges; Beheim also served as astrologer to the Pope's son, Cesare Borgia. In 1503, he returned to Nuremberg, and he became canon of Bamberg in 1505, working there as a lawyer in 1506 and 1507. Beheim died there in 1521.
