Biography[]
Lolly Steinman was born to a Jewish family, and he became the manager of a casino on the boardwalk of Atlantic City, New Jersey during Prohibition. Steinman paid Atlantic County Treasurer and political boss Enoch Thompson for alcohol to keep the gamblers in the casino, and Steinman became very rich. However, the robbery of the casino by the D'Alessio brothers in 1920 and the seizure of Bill McCoy's liquor shipments by the Coast Guard in 1921 led to the casino suffering, and he considered buying liquor from Jimmy Darmody through his henchman Richard Harrow. Steinman's deal with Harrow was interrupted by Owen Sleater, who informed Harrow that Steinman would not be buying any alcohol from Darmody. Steinman reluctantly remained loyal to Thompson.
