
Lloyd Lowndes Jr. (21 February 1845-8 January 1905) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MD 6) from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1875 (preceding William Walsh) and Governor of Maryland from 8 January 1896 to 10 January 1900 (succeeding Frank Brown and preceding John Walter Smith).
Biography[]
Lloyd Lowndes Jr. was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on 21 February 1845, and he became a lawyer in Maryland. He served in the US House of Representatives from 1873 to 1875 as a Republican, and, supported by a biracial coalition, he served as Governor from 1896 to 1900, being elected on William McKinley's coattails. He died in Cumberland, Maryland in 1905.
