
Liu Qi (?-209) was Liu Biao's oldest son. His stepmother plotted to kill him as she preferred his younger brother to succeed the throne. He received advice from Zhuge Liang which allowed him to escape from danger. He later went on to be the Governor of Jing.
Biography[]
Liu Qi was a son of Liu Biao. He was passed over as heir by his younger brother, Liu Cong, and his stepmother attempted to have him murdered to secure the succession of his infant sibling. He escaped with help from Zhuge Liang, and in gratitude to Liu Bei, led a naval fleet to rescue Liu Bei during the Battle of Changban in 208. Liu Bei and his army escaped on Liu Qi's ships. Liu Qi died not long after the battle.
