Lisa Blunt Rochester

Lisa Blunt Rochester (10 February 1962-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-DL) from 3 January 2017 to 3 January 2025 (succeeding John Carney and preceding Sarah McBride) and a US Senator from 3 January 2005 (succeeding Tom Carper).

Biography[]

Lisa LaTrelle Blunt was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and she moved to Wilmington, Delaware in 1969. She worked as a congressional intern for Tom Carper in 1989, and she served in several state offices under Carper during his governorship. In 2004, she became CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League. Rochester was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2016, and she was a member of both the centrist New Democrats and the Progressive Democrats. She was elected to the US Senate in 2024.
