Lily Lawlor was an Irish codebreaker employed by the British intelligence services at Dublin Castle during the Irish War of Independence. Born in Rathmines, County Cork, Ireland, she was employed as a low-level employee of General Ormonde Winter, and she worked alongside Ursula Sweeney. In 1920, Sweeney leaked classified information to the IRA using Lawlor's name on a library card, and Lawlor was initially suspected by Winter of being the spy. However, Lawlor revealed to Winter that Sweeney had asked about Albert Saunders' location and accomodations on the date of his death, and Winter ultimately realized that Sweeney was the spy, apologizing to Lawlor for suspecting her.
