The Liberal Party was a liberal political party that existed in Argentina from 1856 to 1936. Originating from the Unitarios, the Liberal Party had more conservative social policies, as it favored state Catholicism and only limited citizenship for Native Americans and immigrants. The party rivalled the Federales and National Autonomist Party during the 1800s and 1900s, and it championed classical liberalism. However, the Radical Civic Union would soon surpass the Liberal Party in popularity.
