Li Deming (981-1032) was the eldest son of Li Jiqian, the Tangut chieftain. When his father died in 1004, he became the ruler of the Tangut people, and, over the course of the next twenty years, he considerably expanded the territory of the Tanguts. In 1028, he made his son Li Yuanhao crown prince, and his son founded the Western Xia dynasty.
