Leroyce Taylor was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1985 to a family of working-class African-Americans, and he dropped out of high school in his junior year. Taylor found work as a custodian at a truck depot off Ticonderoga Avenue in the industrial areas of Elizabeth, and he made meagre income while working at that job.
