Leroy Jethro Gibbs (born 21 November 1954) is a retired American NCIS agent who held the rank of Special Agent at the time of his retirement in June 2021. He was the head of the NCIS Major Case Response Team, though Special Agent Timothy McGee succeeded his position.
Gibbs is a former marine, holding the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He served in the Gulf War and conducted several top secret missions during his time in the US Marine Corps. In 2021, Gibbs retired to remote Alaska.
