Jefferson after being shot
Leon Mohammad Jefferson was born in 1960, and he worked as a cocaine dealer in Miami during the early 1980s, having a connection with Esteban Calderone and his Colombian cartel. In 1984, he met with undercover detective Sonny Crockett, who displayed interest in buying some drugs off of Jefferson and Calderone. However, he was eventually arrested in a sting operation at a meeting with Crocket, Scottie Wheeler, and undercover cop Rico Tubbs, and he was forced to enter the Witness Protection Program to guarantee his safety while working with the state attorney. He denied this in court, and he was angry with the court. He spilled his lawyer's papers before leaving the courthouse and heading to the beach, where he arranged for Lieutenant Lou Rodriguez to send Crockett to pick him up to speak with him. Jefferson waited there, but he was shot in the chest with a silenced pistol by assassin Trini DeSoto (who was dressed as a woman) at a concession stand. Crockett and Tubbs found him leaning against a wall, and Crockett clapped his shoulder, thinking that he was alive. However, his body fell down and rolled down the stairs, and Crockett and Tubbs pronounced him dead in front of a crowd of beachgoers.
