Leo Moceri

Leo "Lips" Moceri (1900-22 August 1976) was the underboss of the Cleveland crime family under John T. Licavoli.

Biography[]

Leo Moceri was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1900, and he was a cousin of John T. Licavoli. He sold apples in Detroit before holding up a bank, and he impressed the Mafia. Moceri was hired as a gunman protecting the Cleveland crime family's interests in the Toledo, Ohio area, and he became consigliere in 1940. In 1952, he was arrested for putting slugs into a Los Angeles payphone, his first serious conviction. Moceri became the underboss of the Cleveland Mafia under his cousin, and he was targeted by Danny Greene during the Cleveland mob war of 1976. Moceri was murdered by Greene and John Nardi, starting the opening volley of the war.
