Leo Cuneo

Leo Cuneo (1913-1979) was the Don of the Cuneo crime family from 1955 to 1979, succeeding Carmine Cuneo. He was assassinated by Joey Zasa during the Atlantic City massacre.

Biography[]

Leo Cuneo was born in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City in 1913, the son of Italian immigrant and Mafia don Carmine Cuneo. Leo Cuneo became Don of the Cuneo crime family following his father's assassination by the Corleone crime family in 1955 during the Five Families War, and he had a good business relationship with the Corleones, buying large shares of Michael Corleone's casino holdings in Las Vegas. In 1979, at a meeting of The Commission in Atlantic City, he received his shares with interest of $50,000,000, but the meeting was interrupted by a helicopter attack. In the ensuing "Atlantic City massacre", Cuneo was gunned down by the helicopter assassins and killed.
