Leninism is a political theory within communism, developed by the Soviet premier and Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin in the early 20th century. Leninism seeks to democratically organize a revolutionary vanguard party and to establish a "dictatorship of the proletariat", where workers control the means of production. Leninism advocated communism in one state, not international socialism, and it was a more moderate version of communism, often paired with Marxism.
