
The Leningrad Military District was a military district of the Imperial Russian Army, Red Army, and the Russian Army which existed from 1864 to 2010, when it was merged into the Russian Western Military District. The military district was headquartered at St. Petersburg (also known as Leningrad and Petrograd throughout history), and it was commanded by Leonid Govorov and Matvei Zakharov after World War II.
