
Lemuel Hastings Arnold (29 January 1792-27 June 1852) was the Whig Governor of Rhode Island from 4 May 1831 to 1 May 1833 (succeeding James Fenner and preceding John Brown Francis) and a member of the US House of Representatives (W-RI 2) from 4 March 1845 to 3 March 1847 (succeeding Elisha R. Potter and preceding Benjamin Babock Thurston).
Biography[]
Lemuel Hastings Arnold was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1792, the son of Jonathan Arnold. He became a lawyer in Providence, Rhode Island in 1814, and he served in the State House from 1826 to 1831, as Governor from 1831 to 1833, and in the US House of Representatives from 1845 to 1847, and he practiced law in South Kingstown until his death in 1852.
