Legislative Assembly

The Legislative Assembly was the government of the Kingdom of France from 1 October 1791 to 20 September 1792, replacing the National Assembly and preceding the National Convention. The assembly, with 745 seats, operated under the new French constitution of 1791, and it was divided between the liberal Jacobin Club and the conservative Feuillants. In 1792, after King Louis XVI of France was overthrown at the Tuileries Palace, the Legislative Assembly was replaced by the National Convention.
