Socialism

Left-wing radicalism is a political ideology from the far-left spectrum of politics. Unlike the extreme left, the radical left desires a fundamental change to the capitalist system while accepting democracy.

The Jacobins in 18th century France were probably the first left-wing radicals in history. Social democracy is a left-wing radical view, which after World War Two became very popular in most of Western Europe. An example of an American left-wing radical is Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist who proposed challenging the "big banks" and reforming the economy under a democratic system. In many Arab, African and South American countries the dominant variety of left-wing radicalism is left-nationalism.
