Lechaion

The Lechaion, also known as the Lechaeum, was the port in ancient Corinthia on the Gulf of Corinth connected with the city of Corinth by the long walls. The Lechaion had sufficient space for an army to be drawn up for battle, and it was the site of battles between Sparta and Athens in 391 BC; the Spartans ultimately captured and garrisoned the port. Today, the former port is a village, known as Lechaio.
