The Lebanese Forces (LF) is a Christian democratic and liberal-conservative party in Lebanon and a former Maronite militia during the Lebanese Civil War. Formed in 1976 by Pierre Gemayel and Camille Chamoun, the Lebanese Forces originally consisted of Christian militias that fought in the civil war, uniting Kataeb Party, Tigers Militia, al-Tanzim, and other militia groups under one banner. The LF opposed the Lebanese National Movement, Lebanese Army, Syrian Arab Army, and Palestine Liberation Organization before later fighting against the rogue Tigers Militia, and in 1994 it ceased to be a militia. Samir Geagea led it as a political party, and the group held 8/128 seats in the Lebanese Parliament, the second-largest Christian party in parliament.
