LeBaron Bradfort Colt (25 June 1846-18 August 1924) was a US Senator from Rhode Island (R) from 4 March 1913 to 18 August 1924, succeeding George P. Wetmore and preceding Jesse H. Metcalf, as well as a federal judge.
Biography[]
LeBaron Bradford Colt was born in Dedham, Massachusetts in 1846, and he became a lawyer in Chicago before moving to Bristol, Rhode Island in 1875 and practicing law in Providence. From 1879 to 1881, he served in the State House of Representatives, and he first became a federal judge under President James A. Garfield in 1881, serving until 1913. From 1913 to 1924, Colt served in the US Senate, and he died in office.
