
Lauren Book (12 October 1984-) was a Democratic member of the Florida State Senate from the 32nd district from 8 November 2016.
Biography[]
Lauren Book was born in Hollywood, Florida in 1984, and she was sexually abused by her nanny for six years, leading to her founding the Lauren's Kids charity in 2007 and writing two books about her experiences. In 2016, she was elected unopposed to the Florida State Senate as a Democrat, and she authored a bill to remove Confederate Memorial Day from a list of Florida's 21 legal holidays and became Minority Leader of the Florida Senate on 28 April 2021. On 24 January 2022, she revealed that she was being extorted by someone threatening to reveal nude photos that were stolen from her, and that the images had been bought and traded online since 2020; she also revealed that, if it weren't for her children, she would have ended her life, as the releasse of the photos brought back the trauma from her past.
