Latin America is a group of Romance language-speaking countries in the Americas, including most of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The term comes from the fact that the predominant languages of the countries, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, originated with the Latin language. Most of the countries of Latin America speak Spanish and are populated by a mixed-race population (descended from both Spaniards and Native Americans), with Brazil being a notable Portuguese-speaking nation and Guyana being a notable English-speaking nation. In 2015, Latin America was home to 626,741,000 people.
