Biography[]

Lawrence Harvey Zeiger was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York in 1933, and he became a DJ for WAHR in Miami Beach in 1957 and assumed the stage name "Larry King" after reading a newspaper advertisement for King's Wholesale Liquor. He became famous with the help of comedian Jackie Gleason, and he began broadcasting the Larry King Show on the Mutual Broadcasting System from 1978 to 1994 and Larry King Live from 1985 to 2010. He retired from CNN in 2010 and went on to host Larry King Now on Hulu, Ora TV, and RT America from 2012 to 2020. King continued to host his political talk show, Politicking with Larry King, from 2013 to 2021. He died of COVID-19 in Los Angeles in 2021 at the age of 87.

Larry King was a Democratic voter, but he was independent in his voting record, voting for Republican presidential candidate Richard Nixon in 1968, supporting a woman's right to choose, and supporting gun control; for the latter two reasons, he told his longtime friend Donald Trump that he could not vote for him at the 2016 presidential election.
