Lorenzo "Larry Boy" Barese (1952-) was a capo of the DiMeo crime family under Ercoli DiMeo, Junior Soprano, and Tony Soprano.
Biography[]
Lorenzo Barese was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1952 to a family of Italian descent, and he became a capo in the DiMeo crime family, coming to run the biggest crew in the family. Barese ran drug trafficking, gambling, loan sharking, waste management, and stock and credit card scam operations, with his cousin Albert Barese serving as his second-in-command. Following the death of Jackie Aprile Sr. in 1999, Barese supported Tony Soprano taking over as boss, but he later supported his plan to make Junior Soprano the acting boss of the family to attract government attention. In 2000, he was arrested and tried on RICO charges, so he made his cousin the acting capo of his crew. In 2003, he was released following a mistrial and put under house arrest, and he returned to leading his crew. In 2007, however, Barese would again be arrested for violating house arrest.
