Larossi Abballa (1991-13 June 2016) was a French Muslim who carried out an Islamic State-inspired attack on a police officer and his wife in Magnanville, a town 35 miles west of Paris.
Biography[]
Larossi Abballa was born in Magnanville, France to a family of French Muslims of Moroccan heritage. Abballa was one of eight men convicted in Paris in 2013 for making plans to travel to Pakistan for terrorist training and then commit terrorists acts. Abballa was sentenced to three years in prison, but he was released after two and a half years in prison. For two years, French police monitored him, although they were unable to stop him when he entered his neighbors' house on 13 June 2016 with a knife. He stabbed his neighbor, the police captain of Les Mureaux, and also killed his wife. He posted footage of the attack on Facebook Live, and he would be killed when police stormed the apartment.
