Larawanda was an ancient Luwian city located in central Anatolia, now the site of the Turkish city of Karaman. Larawanda means "sandy place" in Luwian, and it was ruled by the Hittites before coming under Achaemenid rule and being destroyed by the Macedonian general Perdiccas in 322 BC. "Laranda" later came under Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Armenian, Karamanid, and Ottoman rule, and the city was renamed in honor of the Karamanid dynasty. In 2022, Karaman had a population of 175,390 people.
