Lappland is a province in northern Sweden, with Lulea being its largest city. The region of "Lapland" was divided between Swedish "Lappland" and Finnish "Lapland" following the Russian Empire's annexation of Finland in the 1809 "Finnish War". In 2016, Lappland had a population of 242,180 people.
