
Lake Monona is a drainage lake in Dane County, Wisconsin. Its name means "beautiful" in Chippewa, and it is bordered on three sides by Madison and on one by Monona. On 10 December 2007 1967, Lake Monona was the site of the plane crash which took the life of the legendary soul and R&B singer Otis Redding, four members of the Bar-Kays, and the pilot.
