The Laguna Colorada raid occurred in 2019 when American special forces ambushed a Santa Blanca Cartel search party in Bolivia's Montuyoc province and apprehended the cartel deserter Emilio Marirreguera.
Major Anthony Perryman and his Ghost Recon team learned of the deserter's existence from raiding a Santa Blanca communications center, and they promptly set out for the Laguna Colorada Baths to intercept one of the search parties. The Americans massacred the first search party and interrogated its leader Maxin Vazquez, who revealed that the cartel intended to recapture the deserter and have its trainees take turns on him with machetes. After forcing Vazquez to reveal the location of a second search party that was close to capturing Marirreguera, the Americans traveled to a nearby valley and apprehended Marirreguera. The Ghosts proceeded to engage and eliminate the second search party and extract Marirreguera to a CIA safehouse for interrogation. He revealed that he left the cartel after they forced him to help murder a 15-year-old boy with a hammer, and he revealed that the trainer's name was Carl Bookhart, whom Perryman recognized as a former US Army Ranger and Iraq War veteran.
