
Lafayette Lane (12 November 1842 – 23 November 1896) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-OR) from 25 October 1875 to 3 March 1877, succeeding George A. La Dow and preceding Richard Williams.
Biography[]
Lafayette Lane was born in Evansville, Indiana in 1842, the son of US Senator Joseph Lane. His family settled in Oregon in March 1849, and Lane became a lawyer in Roseburg. He served in the State House in 1864 and in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1877, after which he was defeated for re-election by the Republican Richard Williams. Lane resumed his law practice in Roseburg and died in 1896.
