Kyogoku Doyo was the daimyo of the Kyogoku clan, and he was an ally of the Ashikaga cause during the Nanboku-cho period. By 1351, he had a military alliance with Ashikaga Takauji against Ashikaga Tadayoshi and the Southern Court, and he agreed to trade with the Ashikaga Shogunate that year.
