The Kyogoku were a Feudal samurai clan descended from the Sasaki Minamoto family. Ruling Izumo Province during the Genpei War after being liberated from the Yashima Taira by the Kamakura Minamoto in winter 1187, by the Onin War they were ruling Omi, Hida, and Oki in addition to Izumo. They were given the Mineyama Domain after the Battle of Sekigahara.
