Kyle Loach

Kyle Loach (1856-1898) was an American con man and outlaw of the Wild West.

Biography[]

Kyle Loach was born in Blackwater, Texas in 1856, and he became a notorious conman during the late 19th century and was wanted for several counts of murder. He thrice escaped execution through trickery, and, in 1898, he simply walked out of the Blackwater jail without a shot being fired. He holed up at Pike's Basin near the New Mexico border, finding protection from the Basin Gang. Police chief Oswald Dunbar responded by sending the hired guns Arizona Kid, Cal Hemsworth, Matt Channing, and Dusty Sands to hunt down Loach, and they killed all the outlaws in the basin as they took a hogtied Loach away from the safety of his canyon base. He begged his captors to put his hat on a corpse and pass the corpse off as his, but the outlaws unanimously decided to turn him in to the police chief. The police chief returned him to Blackwater, where he was finally executed by hanging.
