Kunio Youda (1944-) was a Japanese businessmen who managed Club Sunshine in Dotonbori, Osaka during the 1980s. Youda was the protege of Kawanari Mizumura, who later turned corrupt after joining the "Five Stars" syndicate under Takeji Tsukiyama; Youda was devastated, and he instead started up his own club, Club Sunshine. He oversaw the club's successes early in the 1980s, and his daughter went on to attend college in Tokyo. By 1988, Youda's club was suffering because of the rise of the rival "Five Stars", and the owner of the rival Club Mars, Kunitaro Hino, threatened the safety of Youda's daughter if he did not close down his "roach motel" anytime soon. However, on 15 December 1988, Goro Majima came to the rescue during a visit to the club, ultimately agreeing to help Youda fight back against the Five Stars and build back the club's clientele. Youda voluntarily stepped down as manager in Majima's favor, although he promised to continue advising Majima on how to run the club, and served as floor manager. Youda would help Majima run the club and expand it as the club acquired new hostesses on defeating the Five Stars' clubs and after Majima recruited them off the streets, and Youda even confronted his former mentor before and after Mizumura's defeat, after which Mizumura apologized for his misdeeds. After the Five Stars were defeated, Youda and the crew of Club Sunshine celebrated their victory, and they continued to run a thriving business as the dominant club in Dotonbori.
