Krystof Harant (1564-21 June 1621) was a Bohemian Protestant nobleman who was executed in 1621 for his involvement in the Bohemian Revolt.
Biography[]
Krystof Harant was born in Klatovy, Bohemia in 1564, and he learned 7 languages while serving at the court of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II. He fought in the 1593 and 1597 campaigns against the Turks, and he later went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and pursued a musical career in Prague. He converted to Protestantism in 1618 and served as an artillery officer during the Bohemian Revolt, and, following the Battle of White Mountain, he was executed in Prague's Old Town Square in 1621.
