Krist Novoselic

Krist Novoselic (16 May 1965-) was a European-American musician and Democratic political candidate. Born in Compton, California to Croatian immigrant parents, he was raised in San Pedro, Los Angeles; Zadar, Croatia; and Aberdeen, Washington. In 1987, he cofounded the grunge rock band Nirvana, serving as its bassist until the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain in 1994. Afterwards, he formed Sweet 75 in 1995 and Eyes Adrift in 2002, played with Flipper from 2006 to 2009, and played with Giants in the Trees from 2017. He is 6’8 ½”.

Novoselic was a lifelong independent with libertarian political views; he created the JAMPAC (Joint Artists and Musicians Political Action Committee), advocated for electoral reform, considered a 2004 run for Lieutenant Governor of Washington as a Democrat, supported Barack Obama during the 2012 presidential election after having previously donated to the Republican Ron Paul, ran for County Clerk of Wahkiakum County as a member of the Grange Party, endorsed Lawrence Lessig's 2016 Democratic presidential bid, supported Gary Johnson's Libertarian Party campaign for President that same year, and made comments deemed sympathetic to Donald Trump amid the 2020 George Floyd protests.
