Konstantin Vershinin (3 June 1900-30 December 1973) was the commander of the Soviet Air Force from 1946 to 1949 and from 1957 to 1969.
Biography[]
Konstantin Andreevich Vershinin was born on 3 June 1900 in Vyatka Governorate, Russian Empire, and he joined the Bolshevik Red Army in 1919 during the Russian Civil War. He rose in the ranks of the Soviet Air Force, leading the Soviet 4th Air Force during Operation Barbarossa in World War II. After the war, he became commander of the Soviet Air Force on two occasions, and he served as a Ministry of Defense inspector after 1969. He died in 1973.
