Konstantin Aksakov (10 April 1817-19 December 1860) was a founder of the Slavophile movement in the Russian Empire.
Biography[]
Konstantin Aksakov was born on 10 April 1817 in Novo-Aksakov, Orenburg Governorate, Russian Empire. He was raised on a country estate, and he lived with his parents for his entire life. Aksakov was a believer in democracy while studying at Moscow State University, but he joined the Slavophile movement after meeting Ivan Kireyevsky and Aleksey Khomyakov. Aksakov claimed that the Russian peasant's religious and historical mission was similar to Hegel's philosophy, only to abandon the philosophy and become an anti-European in later years. He died in 1860.
