Kong Rong (153-208) was the Prefect of Beihai during the Eastern Han period.
Biography
Kong Rong was the twentieth generation descendant of Confucius, and was one of the Seven Scholars of Jian'an. He joined the coalition against Dong Zhuo in 189 AD. Kong Rong was surrounded by the Yellow Turbans at Beihai but was able to escape thanks to Taishi Ci. He received a request for aid from Tao Qian, under attack from Cao Cao, and together with Liu Bei, moved to reinforce him. After Cao Cao gained control of the Emperor, he returned to the court but was executed by Cao Cao because of his opposition to the subjugation of Shu.
